Unit 1-3 Exhaust Retrofits

Unit 1-3 Exhaust Retrofits

Industry: Power & Energy

PROJECTS

Scope of Work

The DTE Belle River Peaker Station required engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services to retrofit and replace the exhaust baffles on three natural-gas fired units. The exhaust liners and baffles required a complete overhaul due to the age of the equipment and structural condition of the components

Serving as the prime EPC contractor, CCI provided the engineering design of the baffles and liner brackets, fabrication & materials procurement, removal of existing baffle components and installation of the baffle systems. During the preliminary analysis of the units, it was determined that the existing floor liners were corroded and needed to be replaced. Our value engineering on the front-end offered DTE an upgraded product and increased the overall longevity on the units.

In order to complete the removal and installation, construction had to be completed within three scheduled outage timelines. Effective coordination and communication were instrumental in the successful completion of the project. Frequent coordination meetings and timely reporting allowed the project team to plan and resolve issues quickly. The overhaul was completed without any disruption to plant operations and no incidents or injuries.
